Cane Corso Breeders with Corso Puppies for Sale, Breeding and selling Italian Mastiffs
Hello and welcome to Sworn Shield Cane Corso! Where quality not quantity is our first priority. We are a small breeder located in Sunny Phoenix, Arizona. Our Cane Corso are bred from the finest Italian lines. We strive to exceed not only in looks but temperament and keeping our dogs within the true Italian standard instilling natural athleteism in all our dogs. The Corso is a strong powerfully built dog, with thick substance of bone. They have an easy gait with free flowing movement which is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

The Cane Corso was developed by the Italic people during the time of the Roman Empire, as a light auxiliary shock troop. Many statues and historical art documents throughout the time of the Romans reflect the Corso through the ages. There have even been poems written about these magnificent dogs as well as other pros. The Corso has had many jobs throughout the ages they were used for farming, hunting boar and bear, but most notably they were used as guardians of the home or estate since their early beginnings. The eptymology of the name, "Corso" is not quite clear. However some scholars tie the word into the Greek word, KORTOS, which means, wall, loosely translated and from the Latin word, COHORS, which means, guard of the courtyard. I then translate that into what I would call the, courtyard body guard.

The Corso excels at being a naturally protective dog, which is a heritage that has been passed down from its early beginnings.

The Corso is a wonderful companion dog and holds special affinity towards its owner or family. The Corso have a special place for children especially if the Corso has grown up with the children. They are a highly intelligent and strong willed dog. With that said this is not a dog for the first time dog owner and I highly recommend you as a potential owner of any dog, not just the Corso, too thoroughly research the breed you are accepting into your family. This dog is not for the feint of heart. You need to socialize the Corso from an early age with not only people but other dogs. The more socialization the more calm and confident your Corso will become. Now you need conduct that within reason by making sure your dog has been properly vaccinated and any animal you bring your dog into contact with should also be vaccinated and up to date on veterinarian check ups. This is to insure your new puppy does not come down with a disease. Or worse case scenario, becomes dominated by an aggressive older dog which could seriously damage your puppy's Psyche at an early age. You could then have a damaged puppy who grows into a damaged adult, with temperament issues, which can cause you serious issues in life and give the Corso a bad name.

You must remember I am not just giving you a dog, this is a family member, and you are going to be an ambassador for the breed as much as the dog is. You want positive contacts with your dog out in public and this takes a little bit of work on your part. If you don't have the time to dedicate to this specific breed you have no business owning one. This is not a dog to just leave tied up in the backyard. Know this, I take each inquiry serious about gaining a pup from my dogs, and you will thoroughly be questioned about your reasons for owning a Cane Corso. Should I feel you are not a good match I will not allow you to purchase a puppy from my dogs.

Now that I have that out of the way, the Corso is a wonderful edition to most families you must remember the Corso is a guardian breed not a Labrador Retriever or Poodle. It dislikes and remains aloof of strangers and will be very suspicious of them, which is an innate characteristic found in this breed. Once properly introduced to new people, the Corso will remain alert and vigilant towards these new comers. This is what is natural for them, they are not being difficult remember they are a guardian breed, not a toy breed.

Corso's are natural athletes and excel in most things. The Corso is the true embodiment of the family companion, they easily lay at your feet just to be near you. The Corso is a fiercely loyal dog that aims to please its master.

We breed to the Italian standard not trying to make the dog something else in America, but preserve and slightly improve on what we have. If you look at some breeders they tend to breed to make the dog big and beefy, or as I tend to call it American supper sizing. A lot of time these dogs have swayed backs and no distinction between their ribs to their flanks, completely un proportionate in body type. This tends to move farther away from what the dog is really supposed to embody according to the way I interpret the standard. This is just my opinion from what I have observed.
